I was planning on working on something for the site today, but instead spent all day making my christmas cards, and now I'm feeling all creative-ed out. So you'll have to wait. Also, I can't show you the cards until they have been seen by the intended recipents so don't even ask! Be back soon!

Damn cliffhangers! I've just watched the final episode in the 'mini-season' of Lost which just had it's UK premiere on Sky One. And that's our lot till next year (admittedly 'next year' is only a week or two away, but it's not actually coming back till February). For those of you in the US this may be quite standard, but here in the UK because we usually get your shows months (at least) behind, we usually get them running uninterrupted. Because Sky are showing it so close to the original screening, when the US network takes a break, we have to too. I guess that's the price to get it so soon. Fortunately 24 starts in January... but I really hope the same thing doesn't happen. If 24 takes a massive break, well, I'm not sure I can cope!

A special Christmas customisation of an ol' favourite is coming soon, watch this space. Just one of the chrimbo treats I am planning, it should be quite soon!

Apparently according to Tabloids and the like the Wii is a meance and threat to us all. You see the Wiimote can get flung around smashing children, animals and old people in the face, or break your precious precious shiny telly. Of course anything can be a deadly weapon in the hands of a moron. And if you use the wrist strap (as reminded to about once every 10 seconds, Nintendo clearly worried about getting sued particularly in lawsuit-obsessed America*) and don't wave your hands 'round like a mentalist then nobody needs to lose an eye. Play safe folks!

*before I get any comments of emails, I know you're not all suing everybody all the time, lots of my readers are American and you're all very lovely. Please don't sue.

I have a very good reason for not posting for a while.... I am one of the lucky ones who managed to get their hands on a Nintendo Wii on the launchday last friday. Since then I have been Wiiiing in my front room and bedroom, and I even went round a friend's house and wii'd on his big TV. Ok, that's enough juvenile Wii/wee confusion humour, but how is it actually? Well frankly it's frickin' awesome. I urge you all to give it a go. It may lack the pure graphical grunt of the 360 and PS3, but there are few gaming experiences that come close to a bout of multiplayer Wii Sports Tennis. And thats not even mentioning the fact that you can take it online and download classic retro games like the original Sonic and Mario 64. It's been a while since I cared about video games, but thanks to Ninty, I'm back in the fold, and how! I love my Wii! I have to go now, to do important things....honest.

The full length trailer for Hot Fuzz is now available at the official site. As if it doesn't look good enough already, the longer preview shows it's got a veritable array of the finest British actors and comedians. Can't wait!

It's not going to be released for almost a year, but I'm already a bit cautious about the upcoming movie adaptation of the first part of Phillip Pullman's fantastic His Dark Materials trilogy. The first bad sign was that the movies were to drop the controversial religious elements entirely, scared that the negative press from religious groups would get in the way of potentially huge profits from a Harry Potter size audience (although it never did The Da Vinci Code any harm). The latest is that the movie will not be called Northern Lights (the name of the first book) but the much simpler The Golden Compass. This is worringly remeniscent of the first Harry Potter flick when the name was dunmbed down from Philosopher's Stone to Sorcerer's Stone for the US audience. My American readers: I know you are not idiots (you have great taste in websites for a start!) so why must the studios treat you like you are? Hopefully the brilliance of the novels will still transfer to the screen though- I'm encouraged by the casting of new Bond, the ace Daniel Craig in the pivotal role of Lord Asriel. I guess only time will tell if it will be the new Lord Of the Rings, or, God forbid the new Dungeons and Dragons (shudder).

Hopefully, this'll be the last post about the Nintendo Wii before I get my hands on mine (if you'll pardon the expression). The US launch went very well without any of the shooting or violence that greeted the PS3 launch (seriously), and the little box o' joy hits Europe this coming friday. As you may know I'm very excited, and if I have any time left, expect me to write here once I've finally played one. Soon I will be joinig the ranks of Wii fans, who shall hence forth be know as Wiitards. Reckon I can make that catch on? I'm not sure that'll fit with Ninty's family-friendly focus but hey, it doesn't bother me.

It's December. Nearly time to 'Christmas-ify' the site. While the 'decorations' are up, I might spend the time having a bit of a re-design- the current one's about a year old now, give-or-take a few minor tweaks here and there. I'm currently leaning towards doing a new snazzier flash version but not really changing the actual design that much, as I'm quite happy with it. I'm thinking of having a choice when you load up the page, with a more old school option for those still on dial-up or who don't have (or have an irrational fear of) Flash. But before that, stick around for plenty of festive treats with your favourite characters.
