The game is finished at last! Check it out you crazy cats. I think it works pretty well. Could do with some music I spose. If you're reading this and are a musical genius, drop me a line at Christuffa at monkeypiratezombie.co.uk and maybe we can work together. If you enjoy the game and want more levels, then tell me- now I've got the basic engine it's quite simple to put some more together.

Just a few scant hours now until the first part of the finale of the current series of Doctor Who (even if I have to wait til Sunday to watch it due to pesky work). How excited am I? Well, following last years awesome Dalek showdown, I'd have to say "extremely". The trailers are oh so subtly hinting that is going to be spectacular and that Billie might be about to meet a sticky end. Admittedly the previous appearance of the Cybermen this series was a let-down, but I have faith this time they will rock. And was that a Dalek-assisted demise I spied in the trailer? Cybermen and Daleks together? I might just soil myself.

The game has come on leaps and bounds today. I'd like to say it will be done soon, but just when you think programming in Flash is starting to make sense, it likes to stop working, just to keep you on your toes. Arg. Hopefully it'll be good when it's done. I'm going to call it a day, and come back afresh another day.

Oh happy day! According to a website I frequent, animated news, Futurama is coming back! Fans will have heard that a series of DVD movies are in the works, but now Comedy Central (the channel that airs South Park in the US) has ordered a half-season worth of episodes (13). This is great news- Futurama should never have been cancelled. And considering what SP gets away with, the makers should have no problem with any censors. I'm dusting off a space on my DVD shelf next to my season 4 boxset in anticipation! (Although it could be a long wait, they're expected to air in 2008!)

More of this sort of thing? Let me know!

I am naughty. I keep putting off working on the new game because it is a challenge (a.k.a- too much like bloody hard work) and beacause up until a few days ago my graphics tablet was playing silly buggers. I may have given the impression it's neally ready. The truth is it's still at the demo level stage. Should have kept quiet until it's ready, but the squirrels out of the bag now! I'd love to get it done this week, but no promises.

In the meantime, I've been fidelling with the design on this here blog. Ain't it pretty?

I am special. I know this, because today I went and saw a special exclusive preview of Dreamworks latest CG 'toon Over The Hedge. Except it's not really that special or exclusive, when it's on almost every screen in the land, available only to those who... er.. buy a ticket. This cheeky marketing ploy by the studios has been going on for ages, but it's got worse recently. Many films now have 'special previews' the day before the 'official release'. Why not just admit that films are now released on thursdays? To make us feel 'special'? Or maybe it's because they can get away with barring any discount tickets, beacuse it's a 'special' screening?

OK rant over. The film is absolute corker, up there with the very best of the recent crop of CG flicks. There's great performances by the likes of Bruce Willis, William Shatner and Omid Djalili. Enough in fact for me to overlook the fact that Avril Lavigne is in it. It gets an official MPZ recommendation!

In memoriam
It is with great sadness that I report, that a couple of days ago, suddenly and without warning, my toaster passed away. After many happy years it came as quite a shock. We've had many happy times together, mainly bakery product related. I like to think that it was more than merely a business relationship, but a friendship too. Bread, crumpets, bagels he toasted them all. Toasty Tim, as he was known, didn't even mind on the occasions that I may have even used him to toast poptarts ( I was young, I knew no better).

I'll move on and get a new toaster, but frankly it's most inconvenient. Toasty Tim was no longer in warranty- Damn it! Why did you leave me?! At least he's in a better place now. Rest in Peace old friend.

It seems that everyone and their dog's brother has a blog, myspace page or livejournal these days. And it's a good thing too, otherwise how would we know what vampirechick#79 has on her ipod or what emo4eva had for dinner today? My day would certainly not be complete without knowing that, and neither, I suspect would yours.

From this oh-so-satirical statement you may have gathered that the MPZ blog will not be a diary-type affair detailing every single tiny detail of my everyday life. Frankly I'm not sure you could handle the excitement. What it will be is a vehicle for my observations, rants and ponderings, plus ramblings on movies, TV, games and the internet. Frankly what is the point in having a website with a growing following if you can't force your opinion on others now and again? There's a comment facility for you to tell me when I'm wrong. Lastly this will also be the place where you can get a peek at the inside of the working of the site- you'll get to hear about projects I'm working on in advance and all that jazz. (I'm not actually working on and jazz projects, I should probably point out). Come back soon for my first post proper!
