So I hear HBO is bankrolling a remake of BBC comedy mega-hit Little Britain for the US market. Creators Matt Lucas and David Walliams are collaborating with US writers and bizarrely ex-Spice Girls manager Simon Fuller to make something to appeal to the American audience. So non-British people is this a good thing? Hard to say. It's better its made for HBO as it would never work with the restrictions on US network broadcast standards. A lot of their material pushes the boundaries in terms of good taste. But is LB any good? Series one (and the radio series that preceded it) was very funny indeed, series two was mostly funny and the more recent series three was a big ol' steaming pile of crap. So will it be worth your time? Your guess is as good as mine. The original show may have jumped the shark but Lucas and Walliams remain funny types indeed. So I am choosing to remain hopeful that not only will the HBO version be great, but that future episodes see a return to form for the duo. Even if that is looking incredibly unlikely at this point.....
